GOD’S WAYS - PART I
God’s Ways are higher then mans ways: All of this is referring to the knowledge and the ability to perform what God intends!
(Exodus 31:3 And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,)
[filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in
understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship]
This is how the workers of the tabernacle received gifts to do the fine workmanship necessary to construct such a building (Exodus 31:3-6; Exodus 28:3; Exodus 35:31). Bezaleel had charge of the metal, stone, wood, and apothecary work (Exodus 31:1-5; Exodus 37:1, 29), and Aholiab had the textile work (Exodus 31:6; Exodus 35:35; Exodus 38:23).
(Exodus 35:31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;)
[filled him with the spirit of God]
Men in Old Testament days were filled with the Spirit. Spiritual gifts not only include ability in the spiritual, but also in the physical, mental, and material realms (Exodus 35:31-35).
Spiritual Gifts and
Abilities
No doubt, God, in the very beginning, sought to reveal many secrets of creation to man to make life more enjoyable; and it could be that many special abilities of people today have come from the Holy Spirit. The increase of knowledge has always come from Him through revelation and inspiration.
God makes
rulers of the wise!
(Deut. 1:13 Take you wise men, and understanding, and known among your tribes, and I will make them rulers over you. )
[wise men ...]
Twelve
Qualifications for Leaders
1. Wise and understanding (Deut. 1:13)
2. Prominent in the tribes (Deut. 1:13)
3. Having love of justice and judgment (Deut. 1:16; Deut. 16:18-19; Deut. 27:19; Zech. 7:9-10)
4. Without respect of persons (Deut. 1:17; Deut. 16:19; Deut. 25:1; Isaiah 5:23)
5. Fearless (Deut. 1:17)
6. Conscientious (Deut. 1:17)
7. Strong and courageous (Joshua 1:7)
8. Obedient to the law (Joshua 1:7-8)
9. Able and God-fearing (Exodus 18:21; 2 Samuel 23:3; Ezra 7:25)
10. Truthful (Exodus 18:21; Deut. 16:19)
11. Having hatred of covetousness (Exodus 18:21)
12. Of a disposition to refuse bribes (Exodus 23:8)
God granted to
King Solomon wisdom:
And, God continues to grant unto God’s Holy Anointed a greater wisdom and understanding even then that which He gave unto King Solomon (1 Corinthians 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:)
(1 Kings 3:9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?)
[Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge
thy people that I may discern between good and bad]
Solomon's Request
This request of Solomon set the pattern for all who desire to please God and be blessed by Him (1 Kings 3:10-14). Too often men pray for gifts which they think will make them great in the eyes of others. They want to imitate some other great man and they aren't called or qualified for that particular work. Their motive is selfish. King Solomon, asked for wisdom and understanding that he may judge truly giving true justice to Israel. One of the chief functions of the eastern monarch has always been to hear and decide causes. Hence, Solomon desired gifts that would best qualify him for his work and calling in life.
(1 Kings 3:11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;)
[And God said unto him ...]
Two predictions fulfilled:
1. I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; there has been none like you before, neither shall any arise like you afterward (1 Kings 3:11-12)
2. I have also given you what you didn't asked for, both riches and honor, so that there shall not be any among the kings like you in all your days (1 Kings 3:13)
[long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast
asked the life of thine enemies]
Four things Solomon didn't ask for: long life; riches; the life of his enemies; and honor (1 Kings 3:13). These things (which would have been requested by the average man) were also granted to Solomon for his wise choice in asking for something to benefit others instead of himself.
(1 Kings 3:12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.)
[there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee]
This must be understood in the limited sense of earthly rulers. Jesus Christ had even more wisdom and knowledge than Solomon, besides many other gifts of the Holy Spirit which Solomon didn't have. Christ Himself said, "Behold, a greater than Solomon is here" (Matthew 12:42; Luke 11:31)
God’s Ways:
“Always” reveals and proclaims Truth! God’s
Ways, also exposes lies, untruth, unholy, unrighteous, deceit and ALL that
which is evil!
God’s Ways are to the extent that all
unholy people (those that are in an apostate state, unredeemed, not covered by
the Blood of Jesus Christ, fallen away from God), cannot comprehend the things
of God. Whereas the things of God can only be understood as Almighty God
Himself reveals His Truths unto them by the Power of the Holy Ghost.
There are many!
Which imitate they are covered by the Blood
of Jesus Christ, imitate Christians, make many claims calling themselves
Christians, but in actuality do not seriously believe in Jesus Christ nor
repent of their sins, nor humble themselves and ask Jesus Christ to forgive
them and to come into their heart.
They worship
God with their mouth but
their heart is
far from Him!
(Isaiah 29:13 Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this
people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but
have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men:)
[Forasmuch as this people
draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have
removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the
precept of men]
[draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do
honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me
is taught by the precept of men]
Four causes of spiritual blindness:
1. Drawing near to God with the mouth alone.
2. Honoring Him with the lips only.
3. Removing the heart far from Him.
4. Fearing Him only after the precept of men.
(Matthew 15:7 Ye
hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you,
saying, [8] This people draweth nigh unto me
with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from
me. [9] But in vain they do worship me, teaching
for doctrines the commandments of men.)
(Mark 7:6
He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with
their lips, but their heart is far from me.)
Only:
The True, Born again believer in Jesus
Christ, one that is not in an apostate state (condition) will or can
receive the revelations (revealed knowledge of God), other than God
revealing (convicting) the sinner by the power of the Holy Ghost of the sinner’s
sin and transgressions.
God’s Ways:
Isaiah 55:9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher
than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
[as the heavens are higher than the earth]
Two comparisons:
1. Heavens higher than earth, so God's ways above our ways and His thoughts above our thoughts
2. As rain and snow water the earth, making it fruitful, so God's Word will accomplish its purpose (Isaiah 55:10-11)
[so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than
your thoughts]
God's Ways and
Thoughts
This idea of God's ways and thoughts being higher than man's is connected with the idea of pardon from God (Isaiah 55:6-9).
Six Aspects - His
Ways and Thoughts Higher:
1. In pardon. People never would have planned pardon for enemies, as God did. Human beings seek revenge on all such and harbor malice and hatred, whereas God planned redemption and untold glories for His enemies (John 3:16; Romans 5:8).
2. In number of offenses. Under favorable and special circumstances people forgive a few times, but they are prone not to forgive after repeated offenses. God forgives freely many times and as completely and lovingly the last time as the first (Matthew 12:31; Matthew 18:21-22; 1 John 1:9).
3. In number of offenders. People may pardon one person or a few who injure them, but the greater the number the less they are inclined to forgive. God forgives all, regardless of the number of offenders (John 3:16; 1 Tim. 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9; Rev. 22:17).
4. In kinds of offenses. People usually limit themselves as to what kind of offenses they will forgive, but God has no qualifications on this point, except the offense of rejecting the only means of help He can offer (Matthew 12:31-32).
5. In degree of offenses. Men will forgive if an offense is small enough not to be of any great injury to them; but God will forgive the greatest and most aggravated offense against Him (§Isaiah 53, notes; John 3:16).
6. In mode of pardon. Men may be willing to forgive if it does not cost them much, and they can see that such is to their advantage; but God gave the most precious gift of heaven that He might have a basis of forgiveness for His enemies. God redeems on the basis of personal suffering and having substituted Himself to be punished instead of His enemies. He forgives by the very One whom men sought to destroy, the One made to endure the most horrible sufferings ever laid upon a human being. He blesses by faith in the blood atonement and the death of an innocent Person. Man would have punished the guilty and satisfied justice; but God punished the innocent to justify the guilty. In fact the whole program of reconciling enemies to God is on such a high level that men never could have planned it.
Thirty Examples of Higher Ways:
1. Living and acting on faith regarding what is not seen, even what seems impossible to be true, while man lives by what he sees and understands is possible (Hebrews 10:38-39).
2. God plans for eternity; man plans only for time.
3. God deals in the spiritual; man deals in the material.
4. God consecrates Himself to the highest good of all; man is dedicated only to self-gratification.
5. God works in miraculous and mysterious ways; man works only in ordinary ways.
6. God's ways are supernatural; man's are only natural.
7. God's ways are unlimited; man's ways are limited.
8. God exalts through humility; man exalts through self-exaltation.
9. God's way up is down; man's is to climb up without going down (humbling self) first.
10. God controls by love; man controls by force.
11. God gives justice without reward; man gives it for reward and personal gain.
12. God wins respect by goodness; man wins "respect" by wealth and power.
13. God redeems by death; man redeems by money.
14. God's program is carried on without outward show; man's agenda by show and splendor.
15. God's way is to take no thought for the morrow; man's way is made up of constant worry, planning, and fretting.
16. God's way is to give alms, pray, and fast in secret—not to be seen of men; man's way is by public demonstration.
17. God's way is to bring peace on earth by man's personal surrender; man's way is by force of arms and conquest.
18. God's healing is through the Savior's sufferings and death; man's healing is by remedies.
19. God's way of social life is to make feasts for the poor, lame, maimed, and outcast (Luke 14:12-15); man's way is to make them for friends who are well-provided for—the rich, and influential.
20. God's way is to put away grudges and all bitterness (Hebrews 12:15); man's way is to hold them and seek revenge.
21. God's way is not to take a matter between brethren to law (1 Cor. 6); man's way is to do this.
22. God's way is to lend, expecting nothing in return (Matthew 5:42; Luke 6:30-38); man's way is not to lend without security and gain.
23. God's way is to judge not (Matthew 7:1-5; Luke 6:37); man's way is to judge.
24. God's way is to do unto others as one would wish to be done unto (Matthew 7:12); man's way is to take advantage of others regardless of the outcome.
25. God's way is to rejoice and glory in persecution and trouble (Matthew 5:10-12; Romans 5:1-5); man's way is to fight back, resent, and take revenge.
26. God's way is to be kind to enemies, and feed them (Matthew 5:44-46; Romans 12:20); man's way is to show hatred and repay them for their wrongdoing.
27. God's way is to be friendly with the lowest and all other classes (Matthew 9:10-13); man's way is to show partiality, preferring those who can return them personal again.
28. God's way is to forgive 490 times (Matthew 18:21); man's way is to forgive a few times, and only when necessary.
29. God's way is not to boast or seek His own things (1 Cor. 13); man's way is to brag and seek things for self.
30. God's way is to labor and give to others (Ephes. 4:28); man's way to labor for self only, and ignore others. God's ways, thoughts, purposes, and acts are, generally speaking, different from those of man. His plan of creation and redemption are different from what man's would have been, as well as His way of government. Truly, just as the heavens are infinitely higher than the earth, so God's ways and thoughts are above man's (cp. Psalm 57:10; Psalm 89:2; Psalm 103:11).
Another
example is:
The gift of Speaking in the Unknown Tongues
of The Holy Ghost is only given to those which are clean (have a clean and
forgiven heart) and without ANY sin in their heart and life for the Holy Ghost
will NOT come into an unclean vessel AND they must have an obedient
heart unto God.
With the above being an absolute fact, it
is also a fact that The Heavenly Father Reveals His Knowledge, Wisdom, to
another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same
Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to
another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another
the interpretation of tongues.
The World
cannot comprehend
that which is
holy, righteous and clean!
Genesis 6:5
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil
continually.
Genesis 6:6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man
on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
[repented]
Hebrew: nacham (HSN-5162), to sigh, breathe heavily, and be sorry in the literal sense (Exodus 32:14; Judges 2:18; 1 Samuel 15:35; 2 Samuel 24:16; Psalm 106:45).
[grieved him at his]
God is capable of all feelings, emotions, and right desires, as we are.
(1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that
are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in
him.)
[Love not the world, neither the things that are in the
world]
Two things not to love:
1. Greek: kosmos (GSN-2889), the order, behavior, fashion, and government of this world system (Matthew 4:8; Matthew 13:22; Ephes. 2:1-3; James 4:4; 2 Peter 1:4; 2 Peter 2:20)
2. The things that make up the world system of evil and rebellion against God (see Three Classes of Things of the World System)
[If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in
him]
This is the reason men must not love the world system
or the things in it. Love of God and love of these things are
not compatible.
God gives His
good gift’s unto those which are Holy
and not unto
dogs
Matthew 7:6
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample
them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
[Give not that which is holy unto the dogs]
Do not force truth upon rebels who reject it, or give holy things to faultfinders, mote hunters, evil speakers.
[dogs]
Used figuratively of nine classes:
1. Homosexuals (Deut. 23:18)
2. Anyone despised (1 Samuel 17:43; 1 Samuel 24:14; 2 Samuel 9:8; 2 Samuel 16:9; 2 Kings 8:13)
3. Satanic powers (Psalm 22:20)
4. Wicked men (Psalm 22:16; Psalm 59:6, 14)
5. False prophets (Isaiah 56:10; Phil. 3:2)
6. Deceived people (Matthew 7:6; Rev. 22:15)
7. Fools (Proverbs 26:11)
8. Gentiles (Matthew 15:26-27; Mark 7:27-28)
9. Backsliders (2 Peter 2:20-23)
[swine]
Used figuratively of three classes:
1. Indiscreet women (Proverbs 11:22)
2. Deceived people (Matthew 7:6)
3. Backsliders (2 Peter 2:20-22)
Only those
which are redeemed and
remain holy
before God:
Perceive and will perceive the Revelations,
Visions, Dreams and the other nine gifts of the Holy Ghost such as Apostle
Peter did when he received revealed knowledge from The Heavenly Father.
Matthew 16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea
Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men
say that I the Son of man am? [14] And they said, Some say that thou art
John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
[15] He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
[16] And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the
Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee,
but my Father which is in heaven. [18]
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build
my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Some of the
other gifts of God
are keys and
power!
((Another gift
of Jesus Christ to the believer is: the authority to use the Holy Name of Jesus
Christ against all power of the enemy (Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power
to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and
nothing shall by any means hurt you.))
[19] And I will give unto thee the
keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth
shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on
earth shall be loosed in heaven.
The Sinner:
Cannot see the kingdom of God or
the things of God, unless he repents of his sins and transgressions
against God and is NO LONGER in an apostate state (condition) and is obedient
unto the Holy Ghost in all respects!
Otherwise:
The things of God are hid from the wise and
prudent and are revealed unto babes (Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because
thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them
unto babes.)
Truth is always hidden from the professing wise who reject it because of self-conceit and pride (Romans 1:18-32; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; 1 Cor. 1:18-21; 1 Cor. 2:1-16). It is always revealed to the simple who accept and obey it (1 Cor. 3:1-3; Hebrews 5:12-6:1; 1 Peter 2:1-2). It is right that this be so (Matthew 11:26; Isaiah 28:9-11; Matthew 13:11-16; 1 Cor. 1:18-21)
(Luke 10:21
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these
things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so,
Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.)
[in spirit]
Rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, which is the true source of joy and will never result in spiritual pride that causes shipwreck (Galatians 5:22).
[Father]
Jesus used this word 180 times in referring to and addressing God in prayer—112 times in John alone, which is the gospel that says so much about the divine Father and Son. The rest are found 44 times in Matthew; 5 times in Mark; 17 times in Luke; and 2 times in Acts. Others refer to God as Father 88 times. He is called:
1. My Father. Used by Jesus, so He Himself could not be the Father (John 5:17-18; John 8:16-38, 54; John 14:28)
2. Heavenly Father (Matthew 6:14-32)
3. Lord of heaven and earth (Matthew 11:25; Luke 10:21)
4. Holy Father (John 17:11)
5. Righteous Father (John 17:25)
6. God our Father (Romans 1:7; 1 Cor. 1:3 and in the introductions to nearly all of Paul's epistles)
7. God the Father (1 Cor. 8:6; Galatians 1:1; 1 Thes. 1:1), so it is biblical to say also "God the Son" and "God the Holy Ghost."
8. The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 1:3; 2 Cor. 11:31; Ephes. 1:3; Ephes. 3:14; Ephes. 6:23; Col. 1:3)
9. Father of mercies (2 Cor. 1:3)
10. Father of glory (Ephes. 1:17)
11. Father of spirits (Hebrews 12:9)
12. Father of lights (James 1:17)
