SHIELD OF FAITH - PART I
Defender, protector, guardian of (our souls) my soul using the Shield of Faith against Satan’s fiery darts of seductions and evil temptations! We are to be strong in the Faith of God.
2 Cor. 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
[Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your
own selves]
1. Examine yourselves to see if you are in the true faith (2 Cor. 13:5). Greek: peirazo (GSN-3985), make proof or trial of one; make a test. Translated try (Hebrews 11:17; Rev. 2:2, 10; Rev. 3:10); prove (John 6:6); examine (2 Cor. 13:5); tempter (Matthew 4:3; 1 Thes. 3:5); assay (Acts 16:7); go about (Acts 24:6); and tempt 27 times (Matthew 4:1; etc.).
2. Prove your own selves (2 Cor. 13:5). Greek: dokimazo (GSN-1381), to assay metals; to prove or test. Translated "try" (1 Cor. 3:13; 1 Thes. 2:4; 1 Peter 1:7; 1 John 4:1); "prove" (Luke 14:19; Romans 12:2; 2 Cor. 8:8,22; 2 Cor. 13:5; Galatians 6:4; Ephes. 5:10; 1 Thes. 5:21; 1 Tim. 3:10; Hebrews 3:9); "examine" (1 Cor. 11:28); "discern" (Luke 12:56); "approve" (Romans 2:18; 1 Cor. 16:3; Phil. 1:10); "allow" (Romans 14:22; 1 Thes. 2:4); and "like" (Romans 1:28).
3. Be perfect (2 Cor. 13:11). Greek: katartizo (GSN-2675), to adjust; put in order again; restore; repair; settle by mediation. Translated "mend" (Matthew 4:21; Mark 1:19); "restore" (Galatians 6:1); fit (Romans 9:22); "prepare" (Hebrews 10:44); "frame" (Hebrews 9:3); "perfectly joined together" (1 Cor. 1:10); "be and make perfect" (Matthew 21:16; Luke 6:40; 1 Thes. 3:10; 2 Cor. 13:11; Hebrews 13:21; 1 Peter 5:10).
4. Be of good comfort (2 Cor. 13:11). Greek: parakaleo (GSN-3870), (notice 2 Cor. 1:4)
5. Be of one mind (2 Cor. 13:11). Combination of the Greek: verb phroneo (GSN-5426), to think, and to (GSN-3588) auto (GSN-846), the impersonal pronoun with a definite article which here means "the same thing." Think and teach the same things; have no disputes (Romans 12:16; Romans 15:5; Phil. 2:2; Phil. 3:16; 1 Cor. 1:10).
6. Live in peace (2 Cor. 13:11). Greek: eireneuo (GSN-1514), as in Romans 12:18; Hebrews 12:14. Cultivate a disposition of peace and harmony.
7. Greet one another (2 Cor. 13:12). Be friendly; be glad to see each other; encourage every friendly act by a show of affection. Your party spirit cannot live in such an atmosphere as genuine love and friendship (1 Cor. 13).
[Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in
you, except ye be reprobates]
If you will put the acid test to your faith it will be as easy to discover a false faith as a counterfeit coin. If Jesus Christ is in you then you are a new creature (2 Cor. 5:17-18). You have His nature and power unless you are reprobates.
[reprobates]
1 Cor. 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
[keep under my body]
Greek: hupopiazo (GSN-5299), to strike one under the eye; to beat black and blue (1 Cor. 9:27; Luke 18:5). This is Paul's explanation of how he was boxing. Figuratively speaking, he was not shadow boxing, but beating his body black and blue to bring it into slavery lest he should become a castaway (1 Cor. 9:26-27). He considered his body an enemy with which he must contend in mortal combat to keep it under control by self-denial, abstinence, and severe mortification (Romans 8:12-13; Col. 3:5-10). He acted to keep the body as a slave to the soul, not permitting the soul to be the slave of the body. He did this constantly lest after he had preached to others he would become a castaway.
[castaway]
Greek: adokimos (GSN-96). Reprobate (Romans 1:28; 2 Cor. 13:5, 6, 7; 2 Tim. 3:8; Titus 1:16); rejected (Hebrews 6:8); and castaway (1 Cor. 9:27). It means to become Christless and literally rejected.
Fiery Darts
Ephes. 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
Fiery Darts as big
as any missile thrown
Greek: belos (GSN-956), dart, or any missile thrown, as the javelin, spear, arrow, or stone from a sling. The fiery darts perhaps refer to the combustible arrowheads that set fire to the fortifications, ships, houses, and even the shields of the enemy made of wood and leather. To quench these fiery darts shields were covered with metal. As applied to Christian warfare they refer to evil thoughts, lusts, passions, and temptations of various kinds (1 Cor. 10:13-14; 2 Cor. 10:4-6; James 1:13-15; Romans 6:12; 1 John 2:15-17).
[the wicked]
This no doubt refers to Satan who is captain of all wicked ones (Matthew 13:19, 38; 1 John 2:13-14; 1 John 3:12; 1 John 5:18). The term is also used of other wicked persons (Isaiah 11:4; 2 Thes. 2:8; 2 Peter 2:7; 2 Peter 3:17).
Spiritual gifts, such as the gift of faith
1 Cor. 12:1-14 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. [2] Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. [3] Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. [4] Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. [5] And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. [6] And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. [7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. [8] For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; [9] To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; [10] To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: [11] But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. [12] For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. [13] For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. [14] For the body is not one member, but many.
All of the Gift’s of God, The Holy Ghost (John 4:24)
are linked (interwoven) together by Faith!
Their Supreme Authority (POWER) is Almighty God The Heavenly Father
Supersedes All Authority (POWER)!
Therefore, they (all of the gifts of the Holy Ghost) must be defended (protected) against, of which, The GIFT of FAITH is the one, God The Heavenly Father has chosen as the defending POWER of God.
When we use the term “defended or protected against,” we are NOT stating or otherwise implying, that any of the gift’s of God can be defeated or in any way be superseded by another means, which they CANNOT. All of the Gifts of God (The Holy Ghost) are and will always remain within The Supreme control and Authority of The Almighty Himself (beside Him is NO OTHER).
Whereas, Faith IN God must be used: for our (the Saint of God) specific purpose of prospering (strictly) spiritually (3rd John 1:2).
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Our Faith MUST be “in” God (mandatorily)
For it is Almighty God that does the WORK! Why?
It is God The Heavenly Father that doeth the works; John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and
the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak
not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth
the works.
Notice, when Jesus The Christ quoted these words, He did NOT
say that He (Himself, The Christ) done the works, but instead, He (Christ)
stated the “Father” that dwelleth “in” me, “he”
(other than Jesus Christ Himself) The Father, doeth the works. Therefore,
Jesus Christ stated in this above verse that it is His Heavenly Father that
doeth the works and not Christ Himself!
Further, for more
clarification yet pertaining to the above scriptures and statements, Jesus The
Christ NEVER (DID NOT) make “any” statement making a claim, indicating for the
purpose of confusing anyone or that He (Jesus the Christ The only
Begotten Son of Almighty God) was also The Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ
has never claimed (at any time or place in The entire Holy Writ or in any of
the Letters in the Epistles that He (Jesus The Christ) was also the Heavenly
Father! Whereas, by His (Jesus The Christ) making a statement, He would be
declaring that “He” is also The Heavenly Father, would be Him (The Christ) placing
Himself above His Father in Authority as Head of the Family of God and
would also be showing a complete disrespect (dishonor) unto His Father, which
He did NOT! It is NOT recorded, even
though the devil wants people confused and the devil is the author of confusion!
God is NOT the author of confusion (1st Corinthians 14:33).
[in the Father, and the Father in me]
Speaks of union and absolute agreement with, not physically
entering into. Luke 22:3.
Let’s look at Satan
entering Judas, Luke 22:3 Then entered
Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
[into Judas]
Satan, as an angel, could not possibly enter physically into Judas, for he has his own personal spirit body as big as a man. The so-called doctrine of interpenetration, that is, persons entering physical into each other, is a wrong interpretation of the scripture. The Bible does speak of the Corinthians and Philippians being in Paul's heart (2 Cor. 7:3; Phil. 1:7); God being in Christ (2 Cor. 5:19); Christ being in God (John 14:20); God and Christ being in each other (John 14:10-11); men being in both the Father and the Son (1 John 2:24); men being in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17); men and the Spirit being in each other (Romans 8:9); Christ being in men (Col. 1:27; Romans 8:10); man and Christ being in each other (John 14:20); all creation being in God (Acts 17:28); and Satan entering into men (Luke 22:3; John 13:27).
However, these passages refer to being in union (agreement) with, being consecrated to the same end—one in mind, purpose, and life.
Familiar spirit(s) (same as) demonic spirit(s) must have a body of some kind or type to totally possess and in every such circumstance, that possessed body or “person” or individual has NO CONTROL OR WILL of their own and further has a tremendous amount of physical strength to the extent of being beyond physical control. Judas Iscariot received (by agreement with) the evil spirit and others to kill Jesus The Christ leading them to Him and then betray Jesus The Christ.
Notice, Judas still had his own mind, so he (Judas) was NOT possessed with a demonic (familiar spirit) as yet, until just before he hung himself.
This note is being shown for the benefit and purpose that people might understand that there is a big difference between being in an agreement with, union or in one accord with someone and their being possessed by another spirit living, occupying the same individual(s) body (dwelling).
Being possessed by that means (as described above) is that individual has absolutely NO will (authority) of their own, because they are being totally control by and are a complete subject, in total submission of another Spirit.
Satanic (evil) spirits CANNOT occupy (come into, indwell, live) within a person(s) body that is truly redeemed and covered by the Blood of Jesus The Christ, because Jesus The Christ and that redeemed person that remains covered by the Blood of Jesus The Christ has all power and authority over all Satanic and evil spirits (Matthew 10: 1; Mark 16:15-20; Luke 10:19; Rev. 1:18).
Almighty God The Heavenly Father
Does NOT control anyone against their own will (except His adversaries, enemies) and that includes His (God’s) own begotten Son Jesus The Christ and those that have willingly and by their own accord (choice) have repented of their sins and transgressions against Almighty God, thereby confessing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9-13).
Another way to explain Unity and in one accord could be best
understood by a man and woman becoming one in life together, being in each
other’s plans, life, etc. Hence, Satan
entering into Judas simply means Judas submitted to Satan’s temptation to betray
Jesus. He became one (in agreement, in
concert) with Satan, like men become one in spirit with God when joined to Him
in consecration (1 Cor. 6:17).
For the record
and let it be forever known and further known for the purpose of clarity!
Jesus The Christ, The Only Begotten Son of Almighty God is NOT, was NOT
and is NOT now
nor will He ever be, possessed (totally controlled without any
authority of His Own) by His Heavenly Father, Who is also called The I AM THAT
I AM, and also identified as Jehovah The Lord God of Israel.
Many people (theologians) have declared,
deliberately causing confusion, that Jesus Christ is also GOD The Heavenly
Father, because they have misunderstood (misconceived) what is written in John
14:10!
John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and
the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak
not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth
the works.
Because Jesus, The Only Begotten Son of God stated that He (The Christ) was in the Father and The Father in Him, meant that ONE is Possessed by the Other, whereas, that is NOT the correct interpretation of the Holy Scripture. Further, the Scripture (The Word of God) does NOT declare, imply, insinuate or assume by statement that Jesus The Christ is ALSO The Heavenly Father, yet those church denominations called oneness are doing everything within their power to proclaim that Jesus Christ the Son of Almighty God is also The Heavenly Father. Therefore, a WOE of Almighty God is pronounced against them!
By those people making such a claim have changed, failed to
heed the warning(s) of God according to Rev. 22:6 And he said unto me, These sayings are
faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew
unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. [7] Behold, I come
quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
And
Rev. 22:12 And, behold, I come
quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work
shall be. [13] I am Alpha and Omega, the
beginning and the end, the first and the last. [14] Blessed are they
that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life,
and may enter in through the gates into the city. [15] For without are dogs,
and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever
loveth and maketh a lie. [16] I Jesus have sent mine
angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the
offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. [17] And the Spirit
and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that
is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life
freely.
[18] For I testify
unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If
any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the
plagues that are written in this book: [19] And if any man shall take
away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away
his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things
which are written in this book.
For people to live a Victorious life in Jesus Christ
They first, need to stop
discrediting Christ (The Anointed One), stop attempting to remove the Deity
of The Heavenly Father from their lives by their discrediting both The Son of
God and The Heavenly Father.
Forgiveness must take place before
The Healing Power of God can begin in their (the people’s) heart
and soul!
How can that (forgiveness) take place?
Isn’t it a marvelous thing, that Jesus Christ The Only Begotten Son of
God (upon Salvation)
can ALSO be “in” you, but yet, grants you free
will of choice?
2 Cor. 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the
faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that
Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
No one can have victory in Jesus Christ
by practicing lies, cheating and stealing or by following the devil!
If you want to please God,
“YOU” must have Faith in “Him!”
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please
him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a
rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
[without faith it is impossible to please him]
Here we see the absolute necessity of faith and the secret of pleasing God.
[must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek him]
Four Secrets of
Answered Prayer
1. To please God (1 John 3:21-22; 1 John 5:14-15).
2. To come to God in the right attitude and with the right motives (Matthew 6:5-15; Matthew 7:7-11; Phil. 4:5-6).
3. To believe that He is (John 16:23).
4. To believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. If one can believe this as much as he believes in the existence of God, the prayer will be granted. However, if one believes firmly in His existence and doubts His word, he makes Him a liar and God is under no obligation to answer the prayer (James 1:4-8). The Greek for diligently is ekzeteo (GSN-1567), translated diligently seek (Hebrews 11:6); seek after (Acts 15:17; Romans 3:11); seek carefully (Hebrews 12:17); require (Luke 11:50-51); and enquire (1 Peter 1:10).
When you pray!
1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in
him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
[15] And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we
know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
God will not withhold any good thing from them
that walk uprightly!
Job 8:20 Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
Job 34:12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
Job 35:13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
This means according to His word (John 15:7; Romans 10:17). God cannot and will NOT deny His Word or Himself. We should consider the answers as sure as if we already had them (Romans 4:17; Hebrews 11:6; James 1:5-8; Mark 11:22-24).
Psalm 84:11-12 For the Lord God is a sun and shield:
the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them
that walk uprightly. [12] O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that
trusteth in thee.
Living (dwelling) under the Shadow (Shield) of the Almighty!
Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of
the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
[2] I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him
will I trust. [3] Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence.
[4] He shall cover
thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his
truth shall be thy shield and buckler. [5] Thou shalt not be afraid
for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; [6] Nor for the
pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at
noonday. [7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right
hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. [8] Only with thine eyes shalt
thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
[9] Because thou
hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
[10] There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come
nigh thy dwelling. [11] For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to
keep thee in all thy ways. [12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest
thou dash thy foot against a stone. [13] Thou shalt tread upon the lion and
adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
[14] Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will
set him on high, because he hath known my name. [15] He shall call
upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I
will deliver him, and honour him. [16] With long life will I satisfy him,
and shew him my salvation.
How is your Faith?
How is your Shield?
2 Cor. 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the
faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus
Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
Can you pray the prayer of Faith?
James 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the
name of the Lord: [15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they
shall be forgiven him. [16] Confess your faults one to another, and pray
one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of
a righteous man availeth much.
Will you pray the prayer of Faith?
Yes or NO?
